Ecce is a principle shop fit out and refurbishment contractor specialising in the retail, commercial office, residential and leisure sectors We carry out varying size projects for high street retailers, large commercial organisations, restaurants and developers. Our works include structural works, mechanical and electrical services, IT installations, security, AV, ceiling, partitioning, flooring, specialist joinery, cladding, decorations and just about any other trade. Our projects range from as little as £500 up to the largest at £5m We carry out work all over the UK, mainland Europe and further afield, most recently in Russia although a large proportion of our projects have been in London and the south east. Although much of our work is on traditional types of contract working with the client’s team of architects, project managers and other consultants, we also do many design and build projects where we use our own design, services and cost consultant team

Martin Burke | Managing Director
Martin started the business in 2004 and just carried on doing what he’s always done –the best for our clients. A background degree in Building Surveying was followed by many years in commercial management and ultimately to directing all areas of our business. As well as his role in overseeing the running of the business, we is also heavily involved with contracts & commercial management as well as estimating. Martin believes in always doing what you believe to be moral right and this feeds through to the rest of the team, pushing them every day to do the best for our clients.
Graham Cann | Construction Director
With over 30 years experience of project management in residential, commercial, retail, industrial and leisure sectors, Graham has acquired a vast ability to lead our construction team. There isn’t much Graham hasn’t achieved and his leadership of our operations team is crucial to our project and business success. Graham has a right first time every time attitude and his team deliver on this.
Joe Crawford | Commercial Director
Joe has 30 years construction industry experience, from fast-track commercial fit-out, to large-mixed-use developments, structural refurbishments, prime residential, etc, he has gained a wealth of experience across many sectors. His productive and hands-on approach has led to a high level of project management experience and he has a track-record of successful delivery whilst maintaining responsibility for P&L.
As well as heading up our commercial department, Joe also oversees our estimating and reconstruction. His ability to understand clients needs as well as a ‘get it done’ attitude is crucial in our ability to facilitate great project delivery. Outside work, Joe is a family man who enjoys the great outdoors.
Will Bolton | Project Manager
Will has a degree in estate management and has extensive experience in commercial and retail property. He has a proactive approach to management and understands the importance of tackling keys issues early on in a project. His other strengths are design, H&S, logistics, client relationships, quality and commercial knowledge. Outside work Will devotes much of his time to his family.
Julian Yorke | Project Manager
Julian came to us straight from Australia where he achieved degrees in both Planning & Design and Construction Management.
& A great people person, he also understands construction very well. Julian’s honest approach is very important in helping to form trusting relationships with our clients.
Tony Thira | Project Manager
We are not sure where Tony came from! He joined Contrada as a labourer and quickly worked his way up to foreman on our RICS project. &
Tony’s progression to Site Manager and Project Manager is down to his incredible attitude and commitment. Clients love Tony, as he gets things done and never lets anyone down,
always goes that extra mile. He’s a very hands on manager with experience of all types of works and environments.
Brigette Burke | Head of HR & Accounts
Having had many years experience in the retail business, Brigette joined Contrada in 2007 when we expanded to the point of needing our own internal HR & accounts personnel. She’s key to our business, making sure suppliers and subcontractors are happy as well as all our valuable staff.
Graham Elliott | Services Manager
With over 25 years experience in co-ordinating and managing services in fit out and refurbishment, Graham has an in depth knowledge of all types of mechanical, electrical, data and specialist systems.
He is a very proactive manager who likes to get things right first time.
As well as managing installation works, his role includes the design co-ordination of services at pre-construction stage which is crucial to good delivery and overseeing quality and commissioning through to client handover.
James Elton | Design Manager
James has also been with us since almost the beginning and has progressed from assistant CAD operator through to Design Manager.
As well as having a natural design flair, James has a strong knowledge of installation and materials which is crucial when offering solutions for our clients.
A real people person, James has that important ability to listen accurately to what our clients want and how they need their space to work
Clare Podbury | Estimating & Commercial Manager
Clare’s been with us almost from the beginning starting as a secretary. Having to multi task in the early days, she quickly showed her ability with numbers and is now an integral part of our estimating and surveying team
Ben White | Commercial Manager
Ben’s another Aussie who’s been with us from the beginning and we’d be lost without him. He didn’t know a great deal about the UK market when he joined but there’s not much he hasn’t achieved since then, A real team leader who’s really passionate about his projects and always strives to be the best. His enthusiasm and honest approach make him a real favourite with client and colleagues
Sarah Vecchio | Site Support and Health & Safety
Sarah has been multitasking ever since she joined Contrada in 2010 from a building background. Having started in administration, she now provides site support and with her friendly and meticulous approach, Sarah is an absolute attribute to the company.
Stevan Krakovic | Marketing & IT
Stevan has also been with us from the beginning ensuring the both the company and site IT runs smoothly. His natural creative side helps him look after our marketing too
Clive Beesley | Accounts
Clive has been with us since 2006 looking after our accounts and advising on the business growth. Another dedicated member of the team who’s commitment has been vital through our continued development
Valentin Christea | Site Foreman
Valentin joined Ecce in 2007 as a labourer and has worked on both retail and commercial fit our projects since then, progressing to site foreman. A dedicated and helpful individual, he has a very good eye for detail helped by his other skills which include decorating & plastering.
Valentin also has a very good understanding of health & safety and the site fire marshal role.
Health and safety is our first responsibility. Our health and safety record is impressive year after year and our accreditation to Safe Contractor demonstrates this. We strive to continually improve our understanding and approach to health and safety. We also require that our subcontractors share this approach.
Backed by the Health & Safety Executive, the Contractor Health and Safety Assessment Scheme is another measure of our ongoing approach to improvement of health and safety on our sites. As with Safe Contractor, this assessment requires that we demonstrate our ongoing competence in all relevant areas of heath and safety to our services.
This accreditation demonstrating competence over many aspects of our service enables us to carry out Public Sector work.
Health & Safety
Our commitment to Health & Safety on our sites is our utmost responsibility. Ecce uses The Health & Safety People for its health and safety site audits, procedures, advice and ongoing H&S policy. We continually assess our own performance & procedures and continually update our staff training as well as ensuring that our subcontractors meet our requirements including demonstrating their own training and qualifications All of our site and project managers are SMSTS trained and directors are IOSH trained with operative holding CSCS cards. We have an impressive health & safety record for our sites and our incident rate is far below the average for the industry. We have accreditation with both Safe Contractor and CHAS
We take our responsibility to the minimise our impact on the environment seriously and undertake to do that by:
- Sourcing local materials and services wherever possible
- Using materials such as timber from sustainable sources
- Reduce emissions from our works
- Minimising our waste to landfill and send to recycling plants instead
- Achieving sustainability requirements under the Considerate Constructors Scheme
